After the “I Do’s” and the first kiss, the reception party can begin! But before you jump into the next round of festivities, it’s time for group and bride and groom photos. With photos taking roughly an hour or more, you don’t want to lose your guests’ attention during that intermission. To remedy that, below are a few entertainment options to keep guests from getting restless and content.

Food & Drink Bars

You don’t want any “hangry” guests while they wait for the reception festivities to begin. Entertain them, and help ease their hunger with food or drink bars. Create a coffee barista bar, where guests can make their drinks, or hire a barista for the evening! S’mores bars are also a huge hit. Guests can get hands-on in roasting that perfect golden-brown marshmallow. Appetizer tables will help keep your guests absorbed and will tie their hunger over until dinner.

Photo Booths

A photo booth is an excellent source of entertainment. Most recently, I attended a wedding with a photo booth, and while the bridal party was taking photos, the photo booth entertained the guests during the in-between time. A photo booth is also an excellent outlet for guests who don’t get involved in the dancing portion of the evening or who just need a break.

At Molto Bella Weddings & Events, we value our relationships with vendors in our area. Below are spotlights of two vendors in the area that specialize in Photo Booths.

Games

Tabletop games and lawn games are always great entertainment options and can keep guests enthralled throughout the evening.

Here are some fun options: Jenga, tic-tac-toe, connect four, ring toss, croquet, mad libs, picture scavenger hunt, bride and groom trivia, or custom puzzles.

Tip

Your wedding is your day, so take those photos that will last a lifetime . . . BUT, be wise with your time. We recommend not going over one hour for photos after the ceremony to not keep your guests waiting too long. Consult your photographer beforehand regarding the timeline. Give them a list of family groupings as well as what specific bridal party group photos you want. Along with this, communicate what photos are the priority. Do you want more bridal party photos or couple photos? Once they are informed of the timeline, they should be efficient in getting everything rolling.
